MAD Festival returns to WLU for 18th year

You might have noticed the posters about MAD Festival around campus, especially if you are in the Fine Arts Building. MAD Festival stands for Media Arts and Design and is an event that is held once a year in the spring at West Liberty University. This year, it will take place on Friday, April 6.

MADfest 2017 impresses students

West Liberty University’s Media Arts and Design Festival (MADfest) kicked off bright and early on Friday, April 10. High school students from all over the valley came up to campus for a day filled with the arts and a chance to show off their own talents. 

Excitement builds for MADfest 2017

The West Liberty University community is ready to welcome over 350 high school students for the 17th annual MADfest this Friday, April 7.
Competition entries were submitted up until March 11, and MADfest director and West Liberty Professor Jim Haizlett is pleased with the number of submissions. 

MADfest returns, boasting popularity in numbers

The ever-popular West Virginia Media Arts and Design Festival (MADfest) is approaching its 17th year at West Liberty University with much anticipation for April 7, 2017. The maximum 325 high school student spots filled up in less than a week of pre-registration, and according to festival director Jim Haizlett, over 100 high schoolers are on a waiting list. 

MADfest Brings Harvard Graphic Designer on the Hilltop

All roads lead to West Liberty. WLU alumna Melissa Lambert Marshall’07 returned to campus as one of the judges for the 16th annual Media Arts and Design Festival (MADfest). 

During these nine years away from the Hilltop Melissa tried herself in different jobs, moved to Boston and changed her name to Marshall Lambert. Between her work at the Harvard visual design lab and teaching at Boston University Lambert found time to come back to the place where her story began.

16th Annual MADfest to Showcase Student Talent

The Media Arts and Design Festival (MADfest) will take place Friday, April 8th. This year marks the 16th edition of the arts festival and will showcase student work in a variety of mediums including graphic design, photography, film, drawing, and music. Since we last reported, students from West Liberty, as well as high schools in the tristate area, have submitted work to be presented and viewed by professional guest jurors.

WLU’s MADfest to return to the hilltop this spring

On April 8, West Liberty will hold its sixteenth annual MADfest. The festival will include participants from the University and from high schools in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Attendance is open to everyone, and admission is free.

MADfest is a Media Arts and Design Festival that gives West Liberty students and high school students an opportunity to attend art workshops and to enter their own creative works to compete for prizes. Events are held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and will include professional presentations, and a student media arts awards competition and ceremony.

A Look into the 15th Annual MADfest

Friday, April 10th, 2015 marked the 15th annual Media Arts and Design festival (MADfest), which was held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival will took place on campus and involved 26 workshop sessions, presentations from professionals in the field of media design, and a student awards ceremony held in College Hall.

The awards ceremony was presented by MADfest Director and Professor of Graphic and Digital Media Design, Jim Haizlett and was judged in categories that include Film, Digital Imaging, Electronic Music, Animation and Illustration, Photography, and Graphic Design to name a few.
