Greco named director of percussion, world music

Mitchell Greco arrived at West Liberty University in the fall, bringing with him knowledge of world music. Originally from Rochester, N.Y., Greco did his schooling in Buffalo, N.Y., Cleveland, Ohio and Western, N.C. before coming to West Virginia five years ago.  
 
Recently, he was named director of percussion and world music at WLU, and soon he will direct the drum line when the marching band returns this fall.

WLU opens lactation room on College Union’s top floor

Upstairs in the College Union, a space is now available for students, faculty and staff who are nursing with the new lactation room in room S3. Plans for this space have been in the making for a while, but it’s now finally ready to be utilized.

New Liberal Arts Dean shares his thoughts on West Liberty

New Dean for WLU College of Liberal Arts, Dr. Gerard NeCastro, found time in between meetings and teachings to talk about his decision to move to West Virginia, his responsibilities and future plans for the Liberal Arts college.

Appointed on July 1, 2017, NeCastro is adjusting to his new home. His office is still full of boxes stacked next to a book case. NeCastro points at a small Dante bust on his desk, “Look, I’m almost unpacked.”

Camden steps down, continues ‘being an advocate’

After eight years of service in West Liberty University’s College of Education (COE), Dr. Keely Camden will be resigning as the dean to continue her ever-aspiring journey as an advocate for education. She recently accepted a faculty chair position at Carlow University in Pittsburgh, where she will spend more time in the classroom doing what she loves. 

‘The Toy Show’ opens in Nutting Gallery

West Liberty University art faculty members presented some of their playful work at the Nutting Gallery’s annual faculty exhibition this evening.

“The Toy Show” features work from professors Sarah Davis, Brian Fencl, James Haizlett, Martyna Matusiak, Moon Jung Kang, Nancy Tirone and Robert Villamagna, the gallery’s director. The faculty voted on the year’s theme.

New faculty, staff hires join WLU for fall semester

West Liberty University has so far brought on seven new faculty and eight new staff members for the 2016-2017 school year.

The additions for faculty affect multiple areas, including the Physician Assistant (PA) Studies Master Degree Program, Nursing, Criminal Justice, Mathematics and more.
