Fundraising helps create a sense of community

When walking around campus, students find it difficult to escape the posters and flyers that decorate the walls of most buildings, promoting various clubs, their activities, and perhaps most importantly, the fundraisers occurring on campus that are meant to raise money as well as awareness for their causes.

Campus ready to rock at West Lib Idol next week

Campus favorite West Lib Idol is back again this year. The month-long event will kick off next Wednesday, Feb. 7 in the Student Union ballroom at 7 p.m. There will be four rounds, one held every Wednesday.

Here at West Liberty University, there is occasional complications on finding activities that will make students want to stay over the weekend instead of commuting back home, ultimately leaving the hilltop a ghost town for the most part. Weekend facilities closure hurts campus residents

One of the most common dissatisfactions for students when it comes to going to the campus bookstore is its work hours. WLU’s Barnes and Noble is normally open only Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
 
However, many students do not know that the bookstore is also open during many special events on campus. 

Fun, cheap things to do while on Spring Break

Spring Break is here and if you’re anything like me, you’re a broke college kid who can’t afford to go on a nice vacation to a warm, sunny, relaxing getaway. While all of your friends are hitting up Florida’s hottest beaches and clubs, you’re stuck in good ole Wheeling, W. Va.
 
Although, Spring Break trips aren’t what they’re all cracked up to be. By the end of the trip you’re exhausted, annoyed, and worst of all even more broke than before. By kicking it local, you can save your money and still have an enjoyable break.

Student-favorite West Lib Idol returns soon

West Lib Idol will be returning to the Hilltop every Wednesday in February at 7 p.m. in the College Union ballroom. West Liberty Idol is, as its name suggests, a singing competition modeled after American Idol.

This will be the fifth year this popular event will be on campus. West Lib Idol was started in 2012, and the event has been held every year since.

WLU: 2016 Year in Review

Looking back at the past year, 2016 has been eventful for West Liberty University; a lot has happened on the hilltop.

It has been a year of leadership changes, with the year beginning with welcoming Dr. Stephen Greiner as the new president of WLU and the university’s 36th president.  New Student Government Association officers were elected for the fall semester with Reid Boden and David Cullinan becoming the new president and vice president of SGA. Professor Mike Turrentine was named the new dean of the Gary E. West College of Business, and he took over the position on July 1.
