Hilltoppers outlast Charleston at West Family Stadium

On a beautiful Thursday night at West Liberty University, the Hilltoppers took on the 1-1 Charleston Golden Eagles. After a night full of missed field goals, West Liberty came away with the 9-6 victory and advanced to an overall 2-1 record.

Hilltopper football set to bounce back against Charleston

The Hilltoppers’ football team has started off their season with one win and one loss. Losing 34-0 on the road against West Virginia Wesleyan was a setback for the Hilltoppers. Putting themselves in a deep hole in the first quarter, the Hilltoppers went down 0-20 with Wesleyan scoring three touchdowns. One of the touchdowns was an impressive blocked punt, which was recovered by Anthony Robinson in the end zone. 

West Liberty football drops against Wesleyan

The West Liberty football team came up short in this afternoon’s battle against West Virginia Wesleyan in Buckhannon, W.Va., by a score of 34-0. Both teams came into the matchup with 1-0 records after both winning on their opening nights last Thursday.

Topper football win season opener against Urbana

Football up on the hilltop has officially started up again. The West Liberty Hilltoppers kicked off their season against the Urbana Blue Knights at 7:10 p.m. Having a winning history with this team, being 6-1 with previous played games, the Hilltoppers were confident they would achieve success.

Hilltopper football ready to kick off new season

Sports are a large part of the community up here on the hilltop, one of these being football. Attracting crowds of locals, students and staff, it brings everyone together for a social event and entertaining competition. The West Liberty football team is looking forward to a successful season, hoping to improve from last year’s record of four wins and seven losses.

West Liberty stunned on senior day

West Liberty took on West Virginia State University, and the Yellow Jackets were able to come away with the 37-30 victory to spoil the Hilltoppers senior day. A total of 17 seniors played their final game on the Hilltop today, and unfortunately they didn’t come out on the winning side.

Hilltoppers snap their losing streak at Glenville

West Liberty took on Glenville State College and the Hilltoppers came away with a 41-24 victory. The Hilltoppers came into the game on a three game losing streak and sitting in sixth place in the Mountain East Conference. The Pioneers had a 5-4 record and they came into the game sitting in fifth place.

Toppers travel to Glenville in final away game

Tomorrow, the WLU Hilltoppers (3-6, MEC 3-5) will be traveling to Glenville, W.Va. to take on the Glenville State College Pioneers (5-4, MEC 5-3) with a 7:10 p.m. kickoff. 
The number three has been both lucky and unlucky for the Toppers this season. The Toppers began their season with three straight losses. However, the season seemed to turn around as they won three straight games to become .500 on the season. 

Hilltoppers fall against nationally ranked Shepherd

West Liberty University took on Shepherd University today at West Family Stadium and the Rams came away with a 38-27 victory. The Hilltoppers came into the game on a two game losing streak and with this loss they move to 3-6 on the season, making that losing streak three in a row. 

Hilltoppers take the loss at Notre Dame

West Liberty University took on Notre Dame College this afternoon and Notre Dame came out on top with a 30-14 victory. The Hilltoppers were coming off a heartbreaking loss on homecoming last weekend against UVA-Wise and they were trying to get to .500 on the season.
