Men’s basketball season ends at NCAA tournament

After the surprise announcement at the end of last season that the legendary head coach Jim Crutchfield would not be returning to West Liberty for the 2017-18 season and that his assistant and former player Ben Howlett was set to take over, people had doubts about the program. Could West Liberty still be the basketball powerhouse it had been without the guidance of Crutchfield? 

Women’s basketball impressive season concludes at MEC tournament

The women’s basketball season came to an end on March 1 as West Liberty was defeated 64-55 by Fairmont State during the quarterfinals of the Mountain East Conference Tournament. With head coach Kyle Cooper at the helm for his first year, the Lady Toppers improved their record from last year by four wins and produced a First-Team All-MEC honoree in junior forward, Marissa Brown. With Coach Cooper and Brown leading the charge, the Lady Toppers’ basketball program was revitalized this season. 

Volleyball’s record season comes to an end

If the last season for the West Liberty volleyball team was historic, then this season is “unprecedented.” 
 
The Lady Toppers found themselves in the record books once again; they finished with an overall record of 23-14, 11-6 in conference. It was historic when the Lady Toppers broke even in conference play last season. Now, the team’s never looked better and it seems that there’s no stopping this team on the way up.

WLU Volleyball Clinches Spot in MEC Tournament

Coming off of a 3-0 sweep of West Virginia State on the Hilltoppers’ senior day at the ASRC, the WLU ladies have earned a spot at the Mountain East Conference Tournament for this 2015 season.
