Several activities, resources available during finals week

As the semester rapidly comes to an close, a dreaded time has come for students: finals week. The stress and anxiety has already begun to set in for many. But there are still silver linings to be found for students. Many activities will still be going on around campus. Some will focus on helping students prepare and survive finals week, and others will offer students time to relax and enjoy the end of the semester. 

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month

It’s time once again to advocate as it is officially Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). Throughout the month of April, many events surrounding education and awareness of sexual assault will be held on campus.

This spring semester has brought new beginnings to West Liberty University with a wide variety of campus initiatives that encourage students to be healthy, sustainable and to get more involved with the campus community. Whether students take up these new opportunities or not, the fact that they are being offered is something that the university should be congratulated on.

Campus ready to rock at West Lib Idol next week

Campus favorite West Lib Idol is back again this year. The month-long event will kick off next Wednesday, Feb. 7 in the Student Union ballroom at 7 p.m. There will be four rounds, one held every Wednesday. 

Kate Billings adds Title IX Coordinator to her resume

As of Jan. 2, Campus Activities Coordinator Kate Billings overtook the position of Title IX Coordinator.  
 
“Title IX prohibits discrimination based on sex and gender in education programs, including athletic programs or activities that receive federal funding,” Billings explained. “Under Title IX, schools must ensure that all students have equal access to education, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, or gender identity.”

Campus offers slew of events for varying tastes

Before tests and research papers make you a permanent resident in a remote corner of the Elbin Library, mark some time in your calendar for campus events. After all, socializing is the key to a healthy lifestyle. This semester, activities on the Hilltop range from artistic to intellectual to athletic and everything in between, letting all students find a fun way to spend their free time.

Students shine in Toppers Got Talent finale

Student Government Association (SGA) hosted the fourth and final week of Toppers Got Talent on Nov. 27 at 8 p.m. The judges of the evening were Jessica Ballard, Chelsea Williams, Ashley Pryor and Zach Rhodes.  Serenity Sparkle also returned to host the event.

International Education Month enriches campus life

Like previous years, during the first few weeks of November, the International Education Month is celebrated on campus. The international club, SPICES, organizes this event.

Toppers Got Talent returns for second round

The second week of Toppers Got Talent took place this Monday, Nov. 13 at 8 p.m. No contestants were eliminated last week, and all were able to return for the second round. SGA also gave out free t-shirts and snacks throughout the evening.
