Hilltoppers clash with Rams in battle for first place

Eric Burkle’s red hot Hilltoppers will try to carry over the momentum from the Urbana sweep to this weekend’s Mountain East Conference match-up against Shepherd University. As of April 16, the baseball team is 14-15 overall and 12-8 in conference games this season with three big weekend series left in the season, and the games this weekend are scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., here on the hilltop. 

Lady Toppers fight to keep playoff dreams alive

Hilltopper softball hits the road this weekend to face off against two Mountain East Conference opponents. With tournament play approaching, the team will look for a strong performance in their two doubleheaders as the Black and Gold try to keep a hold of the fourth seed in the north division of the Mountain East Conference standings with just two weeks left in the regular season. 

West Liberty men’s golf prepares for final invitational

The West Liberty men’s golf team, under the direction of Coach Mike Ricci, is preparing for the Cecil C. Spadafora Invitational. The tournament is hosted by Indiana University of Pennsylvania at Indiana Country Club, starting today, April 15, through tomorrow, April 16.

WLU softball returns to the hilltop this weekend for more Mountain East Conference action. Glenville State and W. Va. Wesleyan will face the Lady Hilltoppers in two doubleheader games Friday and Saturday, respectively. 

Toppers baseball needs big weekend against Urbana

This weekend, Eric Burkle’s 10-15 Hilltoppers will travel to Urbana to take on the Blue Knights in a four game series in Urbana, Ohio. The baseball team has gotten off to a rocky start to the season, but spirits are still high to get things going and turn the season around to make a push for a berth in the Mountain East Conference tournament in early May.

Toppers baseball set to play Notre Dame College (Ohio)

Head Coach Eric Burkle and his team take on a Mountain East Conference (MEC) north division opponent in a four game series. The Hilltoppers were originally set to play this series at home, but the locations and times have been changed. As of April 3, the games are scheduled to start at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Saturday and on Sunday they are scheduled to start at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The games have been moved to Wild Things Park in Washington, Pa.

WLU softball hits the road for tough conference match-up

The West Liberty softball team will travel today, April 5, and tomorrow, April 6, for two inner-conference away games against UVa-Wise and Concord University. Two wins here will move the Lady Hilltoppers towards the middle of the Mountain East Conference (MEC).

WLU softball prepares for busy Easter weekend

The Hilltopper softball team will have plenty of game time on the field as they will be taking on Shepherd University and Fairmont State University this upcoming weekend. The softball team’s record currently stands at nine wins and nine losses as of March 26. They are hoping to boost their win count with the consecutive games being played this weekend. 

Men’s basketball season ends at NCAA tournament

After the surprise announcement at the end of last season that the legendary head coach Jim Crutchfield would not be returning to West Liberty for the 2017-18 season and that his assistant and former player Ben Howlett was set to take over, people had doubts about the program. Could West Liberty still be the basketball powerhouse it had been without the guidance of Crutchfield?
