The West Liberty Men’s and Women’s Track and Field team will be heading up to Kent State University on February 16. The Toppers have jumped off to a very hot start early into the season with multiple players setting school records.
At the last meet in Geneva, Ohio both teams (men’s and women’s) set a combined nine school records with four going to the men’s team and five to the women’s team. Dominique Hudson broke his own school record for shotput with a throw of 53 feet and three inches. Michael Harriman set two school records with the men’s indoor 600-meter run with a time of 1:24.73 and also while running a leg on the men’s distance medley, which included Danah Phillips, Isaiah Robinsons, and Walker Hashman. Together they set a new school record with a time of 10:37.54. Phillip White became the first Hilltopper to run a time under nine minutes in the 3000-meter indoor run finishing with a time of 8:59.46.
Emily Louk set a record for the women’s 800-meter run with a time of 2:27.86 and also was a part of the women’s distance relay team, which included Hannah Ramirez, Makayla Rolince, and Grace Henley, that set a school record with a time of 13:46.86.
Abby Caldwell set the school record with a time of 8.38 in the 60-meter sprint. Ryan Wilson set the school record in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:51.77. Finally, Zayne Brakeall set the record for the triple jump event with a jump of 31 feet, six inches. The Hilltoppers have been off to a fast and successful start and look to continue their trend of outstanding performances in northern Ohio.
The meet doesn’t have a scheduled time at the moment but in the past these meets have started at 11 a.m.
