‘Black Panther’ sets new standards in filmmaking

To say that I’ve been waiting for “Black Panther” would be an absolute understatement.  I read comics and I’ve closely followed the Marvel Cinematic Universe (most commonly referred to as the MCU), and for the past few months, anxiously counted down the days until The King of Wakanda made his cinematic debut. As a black woman, I knew quite a bit was riding on the success of this movie, and I had to see it the very first day it came out.

Nutting Gallery features work by Polish artists

On Wednesday, Feb. 14, the Nutting Gallery opened a new exhibit called “Fragmentation.” The exhibit features art by three Polish artists— Michalina Wawrzyczek- Klasik, Michal Klasik and Artur Masternak.

Senior transfer making the most of final year on the court

Senior guard Jordan Watson has been a vital part of the Hilltopper team this season. A transfer from Lincoln University (Pa.), Watson is shooting over 45 percent from behind the arc, the highest percentage on the team. However, there is so much more that lies beyond the player sporting the No. 1 jersey.

In Kyle Cooper’s first season as head coach of the West Liberty women’s basketball team, Coach Cooper returned the Lady Toppers to winning form. With the Mountain East Conference Tournament fast-approaching, WLU will look to end the season with a win.

After three months and 25 games, the West Liberty men’s basketball team will end the regular season this week with a game on the road and a regular season finale this Saturday at home against a long-time rival. 

Toppers baseball travels to N.C. for season opener

The Hilltopper baseball team will play their first games of the season this weekend against St. Augustine’s, Slippery Rock and Seton Hill University. The team was supposed to have their first games two weeks ago against St. Augustine’s, but due to weather, the series was postponed to today and their regularly scheduled games against two PSAC schools will be played as scheduled. 

Hilltop Players premiere “18 Vi­ctoria” tonight in Kelly Theater

The West Liberty University Hilltop Players open the first show of the semester “18 Victoria” today. The show will run Feb. 22-23 at 7:30 p.m., March 1-3 at 7:30 p.m., and on Sunday, March 4 at 3 p.m. 
 
The show was written by Cody Daigle-Orians, and is directed by Adjunct Theatre Professor Maggie Balsley.
