To all of the senior athletes: thank you and good luck

Four years of college to the naked eye may seem like an incredibly long journey. And it is, in some degree, but there is one thing that all college students, especially student-athletes, can agree on: it is not long enough. In two weeks, many student-athletes on the hilltop will walk across the stage for commencement and begin their new lives. 

SGA: Feedback leads to positive changes

Over the past year, the Student Government Association (SGA) has taken great steps forward to improve West Liberty University events and services. SGA has further emphasized student feedback this semester, which has resulted in a lot of positive changes for West Liberty. As the academic year comes to an end, SGA can reflect on the changes made this year and start planning for next semester.

Hilltoppers ready for spring 2017 commencement

May is here, which means seniors are ready to say goodbye to West Liberty University. 
WLU will hold its Spring 2017 commencement ceremony at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 13 in the Academic, Sports and Recreation Complex (ASRC).  

Senior Yale Hughes is leaving it all out on the field

Yale Hughes, a senior pitcher at West Liberty University, is entering into the final stretch of his college-playing career. Originally from Cortland, N.Y., Hughes joined the West Liberty baseball team as a freshman during the 2013-2014 season.

Student succeeds despite rare heart condition

Most take for granted that blood-pumping organ that beats 100,000 times a day in your chest. Evan Greco knows all too well the true value of the heart. He’s living with a rare heart defect, but just as he did in his high school marching band’s drumline, Evan doesn’t miss a beat.

Hilltop Players shine in the musical ‘Seussical’

Seussical” debuted last Thursday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. in Kelly Theater. The show, directed by Dr. Melinda Kreisberg, ran through the weekend with its last show on Sunday at 3 p.m. I have to say, The Hilltop Players rocked it once again! 

WLU baseball set to take on rival Wheeling Jesuit

This weekend, the Toppers will celebrate senior day on the hilltop on Saturday afternoon at Kovalick Field in a double-header against the Wheeling Jesuit University Cardinals. The games on Saturday are set for 1 and 3 p.m. at Kovalick Field. The Toppers will travel off the hill to Wheeling Jesuit’s field on Sunday for another double-header with game times set for 1 and 3 p.m.

WLU Honors Convocation acknowledges student achievement

Yesterday evening, on behalf of West Liberty University, faculty and department heads gathered in Kelly Theater in the Fine Arts Building to hold the annual Honors Convocation to recognize students who have shown outstanding academic achievement. The evening began with opening remarks from Vice President of Student Services Scott Cook and WLU President Dr. Stephen Greiner. Soon after, the awards began to be distributed.

IT Dept. infrastructure updates in progress; Wi-Fi to be improved

West Liberty University is in the process of updating the network infrastructure to provide academic and administrative buildings on campus with better Wi-Fi. They plan to start construction over the summer, and they hope to have the majority of the work completed before the fall semester begins.

WLU College of Business holds Honors Banquet

Members of the Gary E. West College of Business held their honors banquet this evening in the ASRC’s Boyle Room. Faculty, friends, and family gathered to recognize and celebrate the achievements of several students before many of them graduate on May 13.
