WLU International students share food and culture

International Club is hosting their eighth annual food celebration on Monday, March 21st. They will be set up in the College Union Ballroom from 3-6p.m. and all are welcome. This semester there is a total of 55 international students from 15 countries, which will be represented during the celebration.

Not only will you have the opportunity to taste flavors from around the world but the students will be dressed in their national clothing. “I am excited to show West Liberty University authentic food from my country, Turkmenistan. It is also very fun to dress in my national clothing for a change,” said sophomore Natasha Muhametzyanova.

Professor Villamagna receives statewide art award

West Liberty University’s Assistant Professor of Art, Robert Villamagna, was recently awarded 2016 Artist of the Year by Governor Earl Ray Tomblin, at this year’s Governors Awards for the Arts event.

“His creative work stands the test of time,” said Commissioner Reid-Smith. “At the West Virginia Division of Culture and History, we are proud to have your award winning art in our state art collection.”

Toppers battle in Athens

The baseball team travels to the bottom of West Virginia to take on Concord university in a two game set. On March 19th the Hilltoppers will play at 1 and 3 p.m. against the Mountain Lions.

These two teams are familiar with each other because they are coming off of a two game set that took place in Athens on March 12th. The Hilltoppers unfortunately came out on the wrong end of both games losing 4-5 and 1-10. Last season when these two teams played the Hilltoppers came out victorious in three out of four games.
