Welcome to FCA – Fellowship of Christian Athletes! As the name suggests, FCA is an organization whose members are mainly athletes, but all are welcome! Whether you are an athlete or not, one thing everyone in this organization has in common is that they have a passion for the Lord and an interest in learning the lessons of the Bible.
FCA is a student-run organization that meets weekly for an hour of worship, Bible study, group discussion, and a weekly lesson given by a different student leader. After the lesson, discussion groups come together to give their thoughts on the message just received. These thoughts are guided by discussion based questions relevant to the topic. Finally, the night is concluded with a group prayer in which everyone is encouraged to pray for concerns or praises.
This week the lesson focused on Judges Chapter 4. This chapter follows Deborah and Barak on their mission to confront Sisera, the commander of Jabin’s army. Deborah has been given a message from the Lord to command Barak to go and gather ten thousand men and lead them to defeat Sisera’s army. Together, Deborah and Barak go with the faith that God will hand Sisera over to them. The story of Barak ultimately teaches that God gives us strength to get through every obstacle we face.
– Have you ever doubted god?
– Discuss fear or fears you have encounter with trusting god?
– Discuss ways to learn to trust god more and grow our faith in him.
If interested, come out to the Boyle Room in the ASRC. Meetings are held every Tuesday night from 8 to 9pm.
