Biography
Brenda Rinkes, MSW, LISW-S joined the Social Work Faculty at West Liberty University in 2012 as Instructor and Field Placement Coordinator. Professor Rinkes earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Ohio University in 1974 and a Master of Social Work Degree from Ohio State University in 1981. She is a licensed clinical social worker with supervision distinction and has more than 42 years clinical experience. She worked as a school social worker in Ohio for more than 36 years. Her clinical experience also included work in the Child Welfare and Disabilities fields of practice.
In addition to clinical practice, Professor Rinkes’ responsibilities as a school social worker included administration, supervision, evaluation research as well as grant writing and implementation. The grants she successfully wrote and managed included two projects that yielded more than two million dollars in federal funds.
The Ohio School Social Work Association recognized Professor Rinkes for her efforts in the field by awarding her the distinction 2014 School Social Worker of the Year. She continues her work with the Association in her role as Legislative Director.
Mrs. Rinkes resides in Bridgeport Ohio with her husband Daniel Rinkes. She has two children, Danielle and Cory, a Son-in-law, Matt Phillips and two grandchildren, Emmett and Amelia.
