The Office of Housing & Residence Life is committed to keeping our students safe throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. We also strive to keep our residential students updated with information as we have it, regarding changes and decisions on campus response. We will continue to provide updates on this website, as well as through emails to our residential students. The University continues to monitor updates and direction from the federal and state government regarding response and caution.
Modified Office Hours and Contact Information
Currently, summer housing is restricted to students approved as essential on campus employees, and students who are independent with WLU as their primary residence. Other summer housing requests cannot be approved at this time as we are still deemed a closed campus by the state of WV.
Fall Move In dates will change as the date for the start of classes has changed to August 17th. We have been working on planning a staggered ove in process so that we have limited numbers of students and guests on campsu at specified times, and so that we are able to maintain social distancing standards for the safety of our entire campus community. More details will be shared with students via this site and their campus email as decisions are finalized during this fluid situation.
Any changes to our plan, based on changes by federal and state government, will be updated on this site, and through email to residential students. Our goal through these processes, is to limit the number of individuals on campus at any specific time, and thereby limit possible exposure.
Fall Room Assignments
WLU is committed to offering safe housing options to students in light of the current pandemic. As part of that, any student that requests to purchase a single room, will be offered that opportunity. Students can still elect to have a roommate at their preference, for the lesser double room cost. If you have specific questions, please email [email protected] We currently have a waiting list of students to assign as we receive cancellations and changes, and will continue to update those students through email as their housing assignment status is changed.
Fall Move In Process
The move in process in August will be a staggered approach, to ensure social distancing for all students and guests. There will be guidelines and limitations as part of this process that it is important for all students to read and adhere to for the safety of all involved. As decisions are finalized, we will continue to communicate information through the students’ WLU email address, and this website.
Additional information and Resources
WLU continues to focus on the safety of our students, and has begun planning for the fall 2020 semester. As a result, we are putting on hold the room selection process for fall until we can outline a process in which we can offer single rooms to all residential students in residence halls. We will email updates as we are able to finalize options and processes.
Students are encouraged to check their WLU Email for further updates sent for campus and specific emails for residential students. We will also update the Housing & Residence Life website any changes or new information.
