Cat Ghost Accompanying Human Ghosts by Doug Eberhardt

WEST LIBERTY, W. Va., March 9, 2022 – There’s not much time left to enjoy a tour of West Liberty University’s Nutting Art Gallery as it hosts Pennsylvanian printmaker, illustrator, and educator Doug Eberhardt in its March exhibition.

The artist, also known by the name of Void Boy, uses his artworks to combine “pastoral rural landscapes with unnatural geometric objects and levitating cityscapes, [creating] tension within these science-fiction inspired scenes” and representing a division within the United States on both political as well as social levels.

Professor Brian Fencl, faculty member and director of the Nutting Gallery, was excited to welcome the artist displayed and invites the public to stop by an enjoy a look at his colorful work.

Eberhardt earned his undergraduate degree in printmaking from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and his MFA from State University of New York at New Paltz, N.Y. two years later.

While working as an independent illustrator for organizations like NPR, his artworks were also featured in numerous exhibitions such as the Mid America Print Council Member’s Exhibition in 2019. He’s been teaching drawing, printmaking, and screenprinting at Edinboro University since 2016.

During spring of 2020, Eberhardt curated a group exhibition at Pittsburgh International Airport.

Since 2016 he has been working at Edinboro University, teaching drawing, printmaking and screenprinting to students.

Located in the Fine Arts Building, the Nutting Gallery is open to the public from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Weekends and other times are by arrangement only.

Next up at the Nutting Gallery is an exhibition showcasing art from Tamarack Fellows and entitled: “What’s Next in West Virginia, an Exhibition of Tamarack Fellows.” This exhibition opens on Wednesday, March 23 with a special closing reception from noon – 1 p.m., on April 13 in the Nutting Gallery.

The Nutting Gallery is dedicated to educating, enriching, and engaging students and the public through art exhibitions of the highest quality.
