WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Feb. 19, 2021 — West Liberty University was honored to welcome U.S. Rep. David B. McKinley to campus this past Wednesday afternoon. President W. Franklin Evans greeted the congressman in his office for an informal discussion, tour and updates on what’s new on the hilltop.

Congressman McKinley visits the new Speech and Audiology Clinic as Dean Karen Kettler (left foreground) and Clinic Director Carol Zombotti assist.

Afterwards, McKinley visited the Campbell Hall of Health Sciences where he toured the two new clinics, now open to the public. Both a Speech and Hearing Clinic and a Behavioral Health Clinic opened recently and are now providing services to the public.

These new clinics also give WLU students enrolled in the psychology master’s degree program and the speech pathology and audiology degree program valuable experience.

McKinley, R-West Virginia, who has served as representative for the 1st congressional district of West Virginia since 2011, was gracious and delighted to see the quality of health care options available to the public with the new campus additions.

“These clinics offer valuable resources to the community while also providing students with hands-on learning opportunities,” McKinley commented in a tweet afterwards as he thanked President Evans for his hospitality.

McKinley’s sons David and Bennett are a graduates of WLU.
