WLU Vocalists Perform in Collegiate Honors Choir

Kassidy Wells performs solo, accompanied by the Concert Choir.

Nine members of the West Liberty University Concert Choir, which is directed by Alfred de Jaager, participated in the 99-voice Collegiate Honors Choir sponsored by the West Virginia branch of the American Choral Directors Association recently.

WLU choir members included Celesta Berga, Alan Cline, Matthias Dotson, Greg Gust, Job Hadley, Michael Murphy, Alex Perkins, Kassidy Wells and Timmi Williams took part in the 2013 West Virginia American Choral Directors Association’s (ACDA) Collegiate Honor Choir Concert.

The group rehearsed Feb. 1 and 2 in Charleston, W.Va., culminating with a performance at the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences.

Of special note, senior vocal performance major Kassidy Wells, Wellsburg, was selected from among 20 singers who auditioned to perform a solo with the choir, under the direction of Dr. Hugh Floyd of Furman University.

She performed “Light of A Clear Blue Morning,” a choral arrangement of a Dolly Parton song.

The Division of Music at West Liberty University offers undergraduate degrees in music education, music performance and music technology.
