WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., May 1, 2015 — West Liberty University will hold its Spring 2015 Commencement Ceremony at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, in the Academic, Sports and Recreation Complex (ASRC).  Three hundred and eighty five students are expected to complete graduation requirements during the spring semester.

Interim President Dr. John McCullough will confer the degrees.

“Commencement is such a wonderful day — a day of celebration and appreciation. We are proud of our students and wish them all the best. We look forward to welcoming their families and friends, along with our honored guests, as we congratulate the Class of 2015,” McCullough said.

Pittsburgh banking leader and WLU alumna Kristina K. Williams will deliver the commencement address. Williams was born and raised in Wheeling, spending much time at West Liberty where her father, Roland E. “Rollie” Williams taught for 37 years.

She is the chief operating officer (COO) for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh (FHLBank Pittsburgh).

Graduating student speaker is Samuel Miller of Washington, W.Va. Miller is a resident assistant (RA), mathematics major and the highest-ranking student from the College of Sciences. He plans on attending graduate school at Florida State University and studying Financial Mathematics.

Miller will speak on “How I’ve changed in College,” and will focus on college students’  growth and development. He is the son of Susanne and Patrick Miller.

Graduating students with the highest grade point average in each respective college also carry the college banner. The following students will serve as banner carriers.

The Commencement Ceremony will be televised live on WLU Television Comcast Channel 14.

A reception for graduates, guests and families will be held in the College Union immediately following the ceremony.

Due to the large number of graduates, students are asked to limit invited guests to six or less, due to seating constraints. Doors will open for seating at 9:30 a.m. Tickets are not required.  Parking will be available for guests behind the ASRC.
