WLU Teacher To Present at World Conference in Spain

This month’s International Technology, Education and Development Conference in Valencia, Spain will feature a presentation by West Liberty University Associate Professor of Graphic Design Jim Haizlett about online alternatives to the use of textbooks in the classroom, specifically for instructors of graphics and design courses.

The March 7 – 9 gathering (www.inted2011.org) is held to promote international collaboration in Education and Research in all educational fields and disciplines. The conference provides the opportunity to present and discuss research, case studies, applications, and the latest innovations in the field of Higher Education and Industry.

“This is a unique platform and a signature accomplishment on the part of Jim Haizlett, the Department of Media and Visual Arts, the College of Arts and Communication, and the entire University,” said WLU’s Provost Dr. John McCullough.  “We are especially proud he will represent our school on so prestigious a world stage.”

Attendance of more than 500 delegates from 65 different countries is expected.

Haizlett’s research will join a database of innovative projects in Education and Research.  He recently began using online video tutorial resources, in lieu of requiring a textbook.

Haizlett’s research has been accepted for publication by the Global Conference on Technology, Innovation, Media, and Education (Global TIME).

The Valencia conference is sponsored by the Association for the Advancement of Computing.
