WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Sept. 29, 2020 — The public is invited to enjoy a live-streamed musical concert, “Sounds of the World,” featuring West Liberty University instrumental ensembles at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 3.

The concert includes music from the Marching Hilltoppers, under the direction of Dr. Gretchen Pohlman, along with the sounds and dancing of the African Drum and Dance Ensemble and the distinctive sound of the WLU Steel Band, both under the direction of Dr. Mitchell Greco.

The Marching Hilltoppers are shown here in a performance from last year, prior to the pandemic.

Pohlman is WLU’s director of Bands and an assistant Professor of Music and coordinator of Instrumental Studies. Greco is the director of Percussion and World Music Studies.

Dr. Linda Cowan, chair of the Department of Music and Theatre, is excited by the performance and hopes to bring more live-streamed musical events to the community in the near future.

The live-streamed event can be viewed on Topper Station (www.topperstation.com), WLU’s streaming platform or on WLUTV-14 (Comcast Channel 14).
