WLU Presidential Search Team Meets

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Jan. 30, 2023 — West Liberty University’s 2023 Presidential Search Team met at 6 p.m. today via Zoom to continue the search for WLU’s 38th president. The Search Committee and the AGB Search firm, headquartered in Washington, D.C. make up the search team.

AGB Consultants Jerome Gilbert and Richard Wueste are leading the presidential search efforts. The team completed “listening sessions” with WLU stakeholders in early January and are now preparing both the Presidential Profile and advertising efforts to promote the position.

In attendance at today’s meeting were:  Jack Adams, Michael Baker, Keith Bell, Sydney Burkle, Richard Carter, Katie Cooper, Thomas Cervone, John Dolan, Ryan Glanville, Dan Joseph, Karen Kettler, Richard Lucas, David McKinley, Jason Metz, Stephanie Shaw and Tasha Taylor (replacement for employee Christopher McPherson who resigned recently). Unable to Attend: Arlene Brantley and Jamie Evick.

Chair Cervone called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m. with a roll call.

Pursuant to WV Code § 6-9A-4, at 6:07 p.m., a motion to retire to executive session was made by David McKinley and seconded by Jason Metz; motion passed unanimously.

A motion to rise from executive session at 6:30 p.m. was made by David McKinley and seconded by Richard Lucas; by unanimous approval, the Board rose from executive session.

The actions emanating from Executive Session were:

Richard Lucas motioned “Karen Kettler and Tom Cervone email AGB with minor commentary and accept the Presidential Profile as proposed.” David McKinley seconded. This received unanimous approval by the search committee. 

The Presidential Profile is a pdf document created by WLU media relations and marketing employees, at the request and with the input of the Search Committee to aid in the promotion of the Presidential Position. (This profile is available here on the AGB Search website.)

The meeting was then adjourned on motion by McKinley and seconded by Jack Adams at 6:32 p.m.
