WLU Opens 2010-11 Concert Artist Series

WLU’s Department of Music will open the 2010-11 Concert Artist Series on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 3:00 p.m., at the Elbin Auditorium on the WLU main campus. 

David Allen Wehr, pianist, will entertain the audience with his bicentennial tribute to the works of Frederic Chopin and Robert Schumann.

Wehr has played over one thousand concerts in thirty countries since winning the Gold Medal at the 1987 Santander International Piano Competition in Spain. He toured the US and Canada for 13 seasons with Community Concerts as recitalist and chamber music artist. Wehr presently holds the Jack W. Geltz Distinguished Piano Chair at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

“David Allen Wehr is an artist of the highest caliber.  His concert of Chopin and Schumann features Romantic-period masterworks of the utmost beauty and emotional power,” said Gerald Lee, Associate Professor of Piano WLU.
