POSTED: Aug. 21, 2012 – West Liberty University will now be offering its Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership and Administration (BLA) to students on site at West Virginia Northern Community College’s New Martinsville campus.
“The expansion of this successful program has been in the works for a while and we are pleased to announce this partnership. Students will find that our program offers a speedy way to complete a bachelor’s degree in a convenient setting,” said Dr. Thomas Michaud, Dean of West Liberty University’s School of Professional Studies, located at the Highlands Center.
Classes are forming now and will begin in January 2013 at the New Martinsville campus, located at 141 Main Street.
At a time when the cost of higher education is under constant scrutiny, Michaud believes that the WLU BLA is a perfect choice for many adults.
“Our BLA is very popular with adult students at the Highlands Center and we are grateful to West Virginia Northern for helping us reach those who want to enroll right here in New Martinsville,” Michaud added. “The return on investment for students completing the WLU BLA is very attractive and makes it a real benefit for today’s students.”
Dean Larry Tackett leads the WVNCC New Martinsville campus and is pleased to have this additional program for his students.
“Our students will find that the WLU degree is both economical and empowering. It is a boost to careers and makes a degree attainable. We welcome WLU and its professors to our campus,” Tackett said. Tackett has worked with adult learners for more than 15 years.
Students must be at least 23 years old and have more than 60 semester hours of credit to enroll in the BLA program. Qualified students are able to receive substantial credit for work experience once they create and submit a portfolio of achievements, according to Michaud.
“The BLA program can be completed within 19 months, and students typically meet all of the graduation requirements for the bachelor degree upon completion of the program, making it one of the most efficient methods available for earning a college degree,” Michaud said.
Classes meet once a week for the 36-hour program. Tuition for the BLA program is the same for all students, regardless if they reside in West Virginia, Ohio or Pennsylvania and financial aid is available for those who qualify.
