WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Sept. 25, 2018 — College Consensus, a unique new college review aggregator, has recognized West Liberty University in its survey of the Most Affordable Colleges and Universities for 2018. WLU is ranked at the 41st spot out of the 100 Most Affordable Colleges and Universities in the country.

“Affordable tuition and fees are the number one concern for many of our students and we are pleased that we are recognized nationally by College Consensus as being one of the most affordable universities in the nation,” said President Stephen Greiner.

“Affordability gives me confidence as I approach graduation this spring, that I’ve made the right decision and I won’t be weighed down by a ton of debt after I graduate,” said Student Government Association President Zach Rhodes, who is a finance and accounting senior from Chester, W.Va.

“We will continue to work hard on keeping the cost of education reasonable. As an example, on-campus housing rates haven’t increased in two years. Plus scholarships have increased for eligible students,” Greiner said.

According to College Consensus, “Affordable tuition means more students earning their degrees, especially students from marginalized and underrepresented backgrounds, as well as working adults. The College Consensus ranking of the 100 Most Affordable Colleges & Universities brings students’ attention to the institutions that combine proven quality with reasonable costs.”

The Consensus method combines two different sets of data: first, it gathers results from the most reputable rankings, including the Academic Ranking of World Universities, Forbes, and the Wall Street Journal. Then, it pulls together the most legitimate, verified student reviews from sites like Students Review, My Plan, and Cappex. Combining the Publisher Rating and the Student Review Rating, it calculates the Consensus Rating, which provides an average used to rank colleges and universities.

There are thousands of colleges and universities in the United States. Read more about our rankings methodology and sources at www.collegeconsensus.com/about.
