The nationally-ranked West Liberty University men’s basketball team has not only earned an at-large bid to this week’s NCAA Division II Atlantic Region tournament, but Coach Jim Crutchfield’s No. 10 Hilltoppers will also get to open the tournament in the friendly confines of the Academic, Sports & Recreation Complex.

West Liberty (27-2) received the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic Regional and will host No. 7 seed Alderson-Broaddus (24-6) in a regional quarterfinal doubleheader on Saturday at the ASRC.

In light of this momentous occasion, the Alumni Association and Office of Development are planning a “NCAA D-II Basketball Tournament Spirit Reception” on the Hilltop on Saturday, March 13 in the R. Emmett Boyle Conference Center of the ASRC.

The reception will be from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Cost is $20 per adult and $10 per child (12 & under). The price includes admission to the reception and a game ticket. A portion of the proceeds will benefit WLU Basketball Scholarship Funds.

Game One begins at 5 p.m. Saturday and features St. Augustine taking on Kutztown.  The West Liberty – Alderson Broaddus game tips off at 7:30 p. m.

For reservations or more information, call the Alumni Activities Office at 304-336-8124 or via email alumni@westliberty.edu. Please RSVP by Noon on Friday, March 12, 2010.
