WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., May 13, 2024 – Every West Liberty Hilltopper has a story to share, and West Liberty University Office of Alumni Affairs, in conjunction with the WLU Foundation, is excited to announce a partnership with Publishing Concepts, Inc. (PCI) to capture these tales. Through the creation of an Oral History Book, alumni will have the opportunity to immortalize their memories and celebrate the profound impact of West Liberty University on their lives.

With a network of over 25,000 alumni, the task of individually connecting with each one is monumental. Therefore, West Liberty University is embarking on this innovative endeavor to collect stories that reflect the diverse experiences of the alumni community. Every untold story represents a missed opportunity, and they are enthusiastic about kick starting this initiative.

In addition to preserving memories, this initiative presents an opportunity to ensure that alumni remain connected to their alma mater. PCI will aid in updating contact information for those who may have relocated, helping strengthen the alumni network and keep graduates informed about the latest developments at West Liberty University.

Alumni are encouraged to share their West Liberty experiences, whether it be memories of influential faculty and staff, meeting their Hilltopper sweetheart, pivotal moments on campus, lifelong friendships, or witnessing historic events.

If you haven’t already, expect to receive a postcard and email from PCI on behalf of the West Liberty University Office of Alumni Affairs and WLU Foundation. These communications will contain two significant invitations: an opportunity to update and verify contact information and an invitation to share your West Liberty experience. PCI has a dedicated team ready to capture these stories, with the collection period running through November 2024.

The Oral History Book is anticipated to be distributed by May 2025. There will be two options:  A coffee table-style book and an online edition that will capture our oral history in the voices that told them.  The online version will have audio recordings of the stories. Also, you will be able to buy either or both at a discounted rate.

For more information and to schedule your interview to share your Hilltopper Story, please refer to the instructions provided on the postcard, visit westliberty.edu/alumni/oral-history-project/ or contact Shawn Ullom, Director Of Development—West Liberty University Foundation. Shawn.ullom@westliberty.edu, 304-336-8401.

West Liberty University Office of Alumni Affairs and WLU Foundation eagerly await the opportunity to hear from their alumni to celebrate the rich tapestry of experiences that make up the West Liberty University community.
