WEST LIBERTY, W.Va, April 22, 2024 — West Liberty students Ishika Agarwal, Tiffany Sites, Madelyn Logan, and Abigail Farnsworth attended and participated in the 2024 Alpha Chi National Convention in Birmingham, Alabama this spring. The theme of the convention was “Leaders for Tumultuous Times.”
- Agarwal, a senior in business and marketing, won the regional Alpha Chi scholarship for presenting “Sweet Success: The Hershey Company Unwrapped.”
- Logan, a senior in microbiology, won a presentation prize award for her presentation, “Not So Sweet: Dysregulation of Glucose Metabolism in Disease.”
- Sites, a music performance and technology sophomore, won a presentation prize for her presentation, “From Simple to Spotify: The Process of Writing Music and Getting People to Listen to It.”
- Farnsworth, a sophomore in social work and addiction studies, won a presentation prize for her research presentation, “Searching for Scandal: A Methodology behind Banned Books.”
Alpha Chi is an interdisciplinary honor society that admits the top ten percent of juniors, seniors, and graduate students with over 400 chapters nationwide. The WLU chapter of Alpha Chi, West Virginia Epsilon, holds inductions annually.

Along with Dr. Melinda Kreisberg and Dr. Angela Rehbein, co-advisors, we are thrilled to offer the opportunity to our students,” said Dr. Linda Cowan, the President of Alpha Chi National Council and a WLU professor of music.
