with Webstreaming Coverage of WLTV Broadcast provided on NCAA.com

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – Saturday’s NCAA Division II 84-63 playoff victory for West Liberty over Edinboro will be remembered as one of the biggest days in more than eight decades of Hilltopper football.

It also marked a major milestone for West Liberty Television as the NCAA granted live television/Web streaming rights for West Liberty’s home game with Edinboro.  That broadcast was additionally picked up by FSN Pittsburgh as the WLSN broadcast was aired on tape delay to 2.3 million cable homes on Tuesday, November 24th, WLTV.

West Liberty Television will do it again this week as the NCAA has again granted the only live television/Web streaming rights to West Liberty University for the Super-Region I Championship Game against California PA, Saturday, November 28th at Noon at Russek Field.  Air-Time for the West Liberty Warm Up show is 11:35 a.m.

“Having the chance to produce consecutive NCAA Division II playoff telecasts is an outstanding opportunity for our university, West Liberty Television and our excellent WLTV student crew,” Amos said.  “Additionally, the streaming service that we have used for WLTVOnline.com has met our need since we put it on the Web two years ago, but the unprecedented demand for the WLU vs. Edinboro game exceeded the capabilities of that service.  The NCAA has provided us with streaming on its broadband channel for this weekend’s game.  We will be on the same server that provides “March Madness Online”.  This will certainly allow us to meet the online demand for our live telecast this weekend.”

Following live coverage on WLTV-14 and online via the NCAA’s broadband channel, FSN Pittsburgh will replay the game Wednesday December 2 at 7 p.m.  FSN Pittsburgh is the television home of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Pittsburgh Pirates, is available in 2.3 million cable homes in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio. It is also included in extended cable sports packages nationwide.

In the local area, Fox Sports Pittsburgh is located on Wheeling Comcast Cable Channel 29, DirecTV Channel 659 and Dish Network Channel 428.

Saturday’s pre-game show for WLU vs. Cal (PA) on the West Liberty Sports Network will go on the air at 11:35 a.m. with kickoff set for noon. Amos, the “Voice of the Hilltoppers,” will call the play-by-play with Hilltopper Associate Athletic Director/Women’s Basketball Coach Lynn Ullom providing the color commentary.

The entire broadcast production crew is composed of West Liberty University students, with the majority enrolled in the university’s Broadcasting and Digital Media Design sequences. The production crew works under the guidance of Amos and Director of Media Arts Operations Theresa Gretchen.

“I’m so proud to see our students rewarded for the commitment they’ve made in the two years since West Liberty Television went on the air,” Gretchen said. “Having their work show up in 2.3 million cable homes is something you don’t see in many college or university programs.”
