WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — West Liberty University will welcome young musicians from across the region to campus this summer for the Hilltop Youth Music Camp, a residential experience designed for middle and high school students. The camp will take place June 14 through June 20 on WLU’s scenic hilltop campus.
Now entering its third year, the Hilltop Youth Music Camp has quickly established itself as a premier summer opportunity for student musicians in the Ohio Valley, combining high-quality musical instruction with an engaging and immersive campus experience.
“The Hilltop Youth Music Camp is the only summer music camp in the Ohio Valley,” said Dr. Matthew Harder, Chair of the Department of Music and Theatre at West Liberty University. “Students participate in a variety of classes and ensembles along with fun activities throughout the week. It is an opportunity for them to grow musically, build confidence, and connect with other students who share their passion for music.”
Throughout the week, students will take part in ensemble rehearsals, specialized music classes, guitar lessons, and collaborative learning experiences led by West Liberty University faculty and guest instructors. In addition to their musical development, participants will enjoy a full residential experience, giving them a glimpse into college life while building lasting friendships in a supportive and creative environment.
The continued growth of the camp reflects both the strength of West Liberty University’s music program and the increasing demand for accessible, high-quality arts education opportunities in the region.
The Hilltop Youth Music Camp is operated by West Liberty University and made possible through the support of the Wheeling Arts and Cultural Commission, WesBanco, and Wheeling Heritage.
