WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — West Liberty University will host its first May Day Music Festival on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 4 to 9 p.m. on the WLU Quad.
The outdoor event will feature live music from West Liberty University students, alumni, and local performers, with Company Caravan headlining the festival.
“The WLU Music Program is proud to feature our ensembles, student bands, student soloists, and alumni for the first-annual May Day Music Festival,” said Dr. Matthew D. Harder, Professor of Music and Chair of the Department of Music and Theater. “The event is a real showcase for the musical talent at WLU and in Wheeling. Two of the four members of the headliner band, Company Caravan, are West Liberty graduates.”
The full music lineup includes:
4 p.m. – Sons of the Valley, a trio of music majors performing rock, soul, jazz, and blues
4:30 p.m. – Sophomore Slump, a trio of WLU music majors performing contemporary alternative rock and original music
5:00 p.m. – Epiphany, featuring original music from a graduating senior
5:30 p.m. – Ursa Major, WLU’s popular music ensemble
7 p.m. – WLU Singers and Musical Theatre Review (performance will take place in WLU Chapel)
8 p.m. – Company Caravan
In addition to live music, the festival will include artisan vendors, food trucks, and activities for attendees. Vendors are currently being accepted, with free table registration available through the university.
Confirmed food vendors include LaBowls, an alumni-owned business operated by Brian Campbell, Dupe Scoops ice cream, and Potomac Concessions. Free food items will be available to West Liberty University students while supplies last, with additional items available for purchase throughout the evening.
“This year’s May Day Music Festival builds on the program launched last year through the AspireU program and has been reimagined as part of Spring Week to engage more with our students,” said Kate Billings, Director of Student Activities. “With live music, free food, and a vibrant campus atmosphere, we are hoping this is a great way for students to come together and celebrate the end of the academic year before summer.”
The event is free and open to the public.
The May Day Music Festival is sponsored by the Department of Music and Theater, WLU Student Activities, and the WLU Foundation.
