West Liberty University Television has expanded its programming through Comcast Cable to a larger audience in the Upper Ohio Valley.  WLU-TV, which can be seen on Comcast channel 14, now reaches all subscribers in Brooke County, West Virginia, and in Jefferson County, Ohio, including Steubenville and the surrounding area.

Available on Comcast since 2007, WLU-TV already had been broadcasting to viewers in Ohio, Marshall and Hancock Counties in West Virginia.  With the recent expansion of service in Brooke County and into Ohio, the university’s television station now reaches more than 100,000 Comcast subscribers.

“We are very pleased to expand West Liberty University Television to reach every Comcast subscriber in the northern panhandle of West Virginia and to move into the state of Ohio for the first time,” said WLU Vice President of Broadcasting Reid Amos.  “We hope to continually grow and further expand our cable station’s reach into additional areas where Comcast provides service in the Ohio Valley.”

West Liberty University Television provides a significant level of original programming.  WLU students are actively involved in the production of every original program that WLU airs in some way, from working on the crew to programming to fully producing the shows.

“We are making every effort to provide a unique educational experience for our communications students while offering relevant community-oriented programming to the TV viewers of the region. WLU-TV is an important part of our educational mission, one that helps us promote the university and all it has to offer,” Amos added.

Some of West Liberty Television’s original programs include: Inside West Liberty, hosted by WLU student Danielle Zacherl, At Issue: Week in Review, Concert in the Kitchen and On Money.  WLU-TV also airs programming provided by the television production programs at Wheeling Park High School in Ohio County and John Marshall High School in Marshall County.  Additionally, WLU-TV is the flagship for West Liberty University football and basketball broadcasts as part of the West Liberty Sports Network.
