WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — Dr. Sherri Theaker, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Education and Human Performance at West Liberty University, recently presented at the 2026 Quality Assurance Symposium in Irving, Texas, hosted by the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP).
The peer-reviewed symposium brought together national leaders focused on accreditation, continuous improvement, and strengthening educator preparation programs across the country.
Dr. Theaker currently serves as a site reviewer for both AAQEP and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), playing an active role in evaluating educator preparation programs and supporting high standards in the field nationwide. Her involvement reflects a strong commitment to improving program quality and advancing effective pathways for future educators.
By engaging with colleagues and national leaders at the symposium, Dr. Theaker contributed to ongoing conversations surrounding accreditation practices and the future of educator preparation.
“A common thread in our discussions was the ongoing struggle with teacher shortages and inadequate financial support for residency students,” said Theaker. “Addressing these realities must remain central as we shape the future of educator preparation.”
Dr. Cathy Monteroso, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at West Liberty University, emphasized the importance of faculty leadership at the national level.
“Dr. Theaker’s leadership and national engagement reflect the strength and forward momentum of our College of Education and Human Performance,” said Monteroso. “Her work helps ensure that West Liberty continues to prepare highly qualified educators who are ready to meet the needs of today’s classrooms.”
