WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., April 24, 2019 — West Liberty University’s annual Great Gala is once again benefitting from the support of the community, led by WesBanco.

WesBanco CEO Todd Clossin greets President Stephen Greiner near the new sign at the corner of 14th and Market streets, Wheeling.

“WesBanco has sponsored the WLU Great Gala since its first year in 2011 and has been the title sponsor since 2015 — for five consecutive years, providing $84,000 in support of a variety of WLU projects, so we are truly grateful for this philanthropy and thank them,” said WLU President Stephen Greiner.

Designed as a party with a purpose, the Great Gala’s motif this spring is an Italian theme inspired by the 1972 Godfather film. It will take place April 27, 2019, with cocktails at 6:30 p.m., followed by dining and entertainment. Limited tickets are still available.

“This year we have 33 total sponsors and are expecting approximately 275 people. We expect to raise over $30,000 in net proceeds to support the WLU Foundation Technology Endowment Fund which benefits all students,” said Angie Zambito-Hill, executive director of the WLU Foundation, which coordinates the gala.

“The West Liberty University Great Gala has enjoyed so many corporate and individual sponsors over the years and this community support is something we should all be proud of as we support West Virginia higher education in our region,” she said.

Held in Oglebay Resort’s Glessner Auditorium, the Great Gala includes an exquisite meal, open bar and music.

Entertainment this spring will include accordion music by Art Burnside of Wheeling, traditional Italian dance performance by Allegro Dance Company and music by the West Liberty University Singers, under the direction of Dr. Ryan Keeling.

Dance music after dinner will be provided by Hit Play.

The WLU Foundation is a 501c3 organization and its mission is to support, strengthen and sustain the University through the raising, investment and stewardship of private funds.
