Professor Moonjung Kang

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Nov. 30, 2020 — College during COVID has its challenges that’s for sure but West Liberty University seniors in the Visual Communication Design program not only survived the semester, they survived it with style.

“I’m pleased to announce that this semester’s Visual Communication Design Senior Project webpage has been launched. It includes five graduating students’ senior projects created this semester. And instead of printing, we published on the web,” said Professor of Visual Communication Design Moonjung Kang.

The five seniors are: Danielle Eddy, Clarksburg, W.Va., Shayla Murray, Samantha Shipley and William Tallman, Wheeling, W.Va. and Taylor Whitted; Zanesville, Ohio.

“To me, these students will be remembered as the first WLU VCD group that pursued and finished the senior project in all remotely-guided classes. They are real survivors,” Kang said.

“I think it’s praiseworthy how these kids endeavor to keep their work the best they could during this unfavorable situation of pandemic.”

Dean Matthew Harder, who leads the College of Arts and Communication agrees with Kang.

“These projects illustrate how our students and faculty are capable of rising to meet challenges and adapting to new situations, all while remaining true to design principles, their artistic vision, and their personal goals. We could not be prouder.”

WLU’s virtual commencement ceremony takes place at 11 a.m., Dec. 5 and will celebrate all seniors who worked so hard during this unprecedented time of pandemic. Commencement will be streamed via Topper Station and shared across social media.
