Two Members Appointed to Board of Governors

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., April 8, 2016 – West Virginia Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin has appointed two new members, Jack Adams and James Stultz, to serve on West Liberty University’s Board of Governors.

Adams was born in Washington, Pa. and is a resident of McMurray, Pa. After graduating from West Liberty with Bachelor of Science in Marketing degree, he began his business career with Retail Credit Co. (Equifax). In 1967, Adams embarked on a 30-year career with Exxon Company, USA, in marketing, real estate and engineering.

Over the course of 23 years, he held several positions in Exxon’s marketing division, including leasing of retail properties, fuel sales and automotive products. In 1989, he moved to Exxon Real Estate and Engineering and was responsible for Exxon Real Estate and on site fuel distribution systems in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Northern Delaware.

Retiring from Exxon in 1996, Adams became president of SJR Team Supreme, Inc., in Phoenixville/Valley Forge, Pa., which became a nationally recognized leader in Exxon convenience store marketing. After eight years, he again retired in 2004.

Also a Vietnam Combat Veteran, Adams served with the U.S. Army Reserves 630th Trans. Co., Washington, Pa., one of only five reserve units activated during the War.

Adams was a founding brother of the Delta Omega chapter of Delta Sigma Pi International Business Fraternity at WLU. He is a member of the Gary E. West College of Business Advisory Board, former member of the WLU Foundation Board of Directors, former board member of the Alumni Association and current treasurer for the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Alumni Association.

In 2012, Adams was elected to the Alumni Wall of Honor. He is a past recipient of the Exemplary Alumni Award from the Gary E. West College of Business and remains an avid supporter of Hilltopper Athletics.

Adams has one adult daughter Lindsay.

Stultz brings 47 years of executive experience to the Board with lengthy service in human resource management at the Ohio Valley Health Services and Education Corporation (OVMC and EORH), and he retired in July of 2015 as the vice president of human resources at WLU. He also served as an adjunct faculty member in business.

He strongly supports the mission of WLU in providing a quality education for its students through the efforts of a dedicated faculty and staff.

“The graduates of the programs offered by the University will provide the needed leadership in  many areas of service that will be of extraordinary importance to the Country and society in general. I am honored to again be a member of the Board of Governors,” Stultz said.

Stultz is a graduate of West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism degree and additional graduate study in history at WVU. In addition, he holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Ohio University with a specialization in management studies.

He was a Distinguished Military Graduate in the U.S. Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps program at WVU and served, during the Vietnam War period, in both mechanized infantry and combat engineer units, achieving the rank of captain.

Stultz has been active in many civic and government related organizations including serving as mayor and a member of the Moundsville City Council. He previously served on the West Liberty’s Board of Governors from 2007-2010 as its vice chairman. He currently is the treasurer of the Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library system and is the secretary/treasurer of the Moundsville Water Board.

A lifelong resident of Marshall County, he resides in Moundsville with his wife Charlene. He has a daughter Hilary and two grandchildren, Emery and Cooper.
