WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Oct. 5, 2021 — West Liberty University’s Topper Station continues to collaborate with community schools and organizations that need a digital platform to spread their message.

“Last Friday, we were pleased to be able to assist our educational neighbors at Linsly School in live-streaming an important football game that was played right here on the Hilltop at our West Family Stadium,” explained Jason Koegler, vice president of External Affairs, who oversees Topper Station.

Founded in 1814, the Linsly School is a private, independent day and boarding school for students in grades 5 through 12, located nearby in Wheeling.

Linsly student Jack Xu learns the broadcast ropes from Executive Director of Topper Station Theresa Gretchen.

The game included a video honoring all senior fall student-athletes that played in the game.

“Assisting Linsly School’s multimedia students during this special game was a pleasure. They created their own video and one of their students, Jack Xu, helped us out in the broadcast,” said Theresa Gretchen, executive director of Topper Station. “It was a fun experience.”

Gretchen is also an instructor in WLU’s broadcast program.

The Linsly Cadets varsity football team defeated McGuffey High School that evening with a 26-21 comeback in the second half.

“Thanks to our friends at West Liberty University and our multimedia students, the game was live-streamed on topperstation.com so families from around the world could watch the action as it happened! In addition, Mrs. Gregory’s multimedia students worked hard to create a video honoring our senior fall athletes that played during the live stream at halftime. This opportunity gave multimedia students real-world experience in live streaming an event and video production and we are grateful,” said Stacy Creely, director of Public Relations.
