WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., March 14, 2019 — The Topper Takeover continues this Friday and Saturday as the West Liberty University men’s and women’s basketball teams play in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Tournament.

Fans are invited to attend a Hilltopper viewing party at the West Sports Bar, 100 Kensington Drive, Wheeling and enjoy a special menu and more.

The party starts at 4 p.m. Friday as fans get ready for the 5 p.m. tip-off as the women face a tough but a familiar foe in Glenville State.

Coach Kyle Cooper’s No. 8-seeded Hilltoppers (21-9) have been matched up against top-seeded and No. 18-ranked Glenville State (29-2) in the quarterfinal at the Waco Center.

Both teams have been scorching hot coming down the stretch. Glenville has reeled off 20 straight wins while the Hilltoppers have won 12 of their last 14 with the only two losses over that span coming at the hands of the Pioneers.

The WLU/Glenville winner advances to Saturday’s 7:30 p.m. regional semifinal.

The Topper Takeover Viewing Party continues at 1 p.m. Saturday as fans gather to enjoy the West Liberty University men’s basketball team’s pursuit of its sixth regional title in the last nine years, this time at the 4,000-seat Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Center on the campus of Indiana (Pa.) University.

Coach Ben Howlett’s Hilltoppers (26-4) earned the No. 2 seed after winning their second straight Mountain East Conference championship. Their quarterfinal matchup against defending regional champion and No. 7 seed East Stroudsburg (21-7) is set for a 2:30 p.m. tipoff.

Saturday’s survivors advance to semifinal action at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Sunday with the Atlantic Region championship game set for a 7 p.m. start on Tuesday.

The Atlantic Region champion advances to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight, which is scheduled for March 27-30 at The Ford Center in Evansville, Ind.
