WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Oct. 20, 2015 — West Liberty University Foundation recently announced the appointment of new board members Keely Camden, Linda Edwards and Thomas Tuttle.
Dr. Camden is dean of the College of Education and resides in Wheeling. She has led WLU’s College of Education since 2009. Prior to that she was department chairwoman for the education department at Bethany College (W.Va.) from 2007 -2009. Before that Camden was assistant and associate professor of education (special education) at Bethany from 2001 – 2007.
Camden also was a special education teacher in various school districts including Norfolk and Virginia Beach, Va. and Marshall County, W.Va. early in her career.
Camden earned a bachelor’s in education with a specialization in learning disabilities at Bethany College and a master’s of education in special education at Old Dominion University (Norfolk, Va.) and a doctorate in special education at West Virginia University.
A native of Moundsville, W.Va., she is married to WLU Associate Professor Bill Baronak and is the mother of a daughter, Torey, age 13, and two stepchildren, Jane, 12, and Paul, 10.
Edwards earned both an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene and a Bachelor of Science degree at WLU. She also earned a master’s degree at West Virginia University.
She has worked as a Registered Dental Hygienist for 52 years and served nine years as an adjunct faculty member with WLU’s dental hygiene department. Currently, she works part-time at her husband’s dental office in Wellsburg.
A resident of Wellsburg, she grew up in New Martinsville. She is active in the First Presbyterian Church of Wellsburg, serving as a deacon. She is a past president and current treasurer of PEO Chapter N in Wellsburg, a philanthropic organization that promotes opportunity for women.
She is married to West Liberty alumnus, Dr. David G. Edwards.
“We have to ensure that young people have an opportunity to become educated for a better life. As the recipient of two scholarships, I know how crucial they are in affording a college education,” said Edwards.
Tuttle is a native of Bellaire, Ohio and resides in Wheeling. He has been the owner of Family Medical Supply, located at 99 Edgington Lane, since 1991. Prior to that he served as a hospital and retail pharmacist.
Tuttle earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from Ohio Northern University and is married to a WLU alumna, Karen Skulski ‘78.
Tuttle also serves on the boards of Easter Seals, the Gabriel Project, the Imperial Glass Collectors Society, the Wheeling-Ohio County Board of Health and the Northern Panhandle Boxing Commission.
“I believe strongly in the value of higher education and specifically on the impact West Liberty University can make on the lives of students who attend and the lives of the Wheeling community,” Tuttle said.
He and his wife have three adult children, Kody, Kathy and Kasey.
