An eight months pregnant ethnic Tutsi whose husband was slaughtered by machete-bearing Hutu extremists in April 1994 will be on West Liberty’s campus to describe how she survived the Rwandan genocide of 800,000.

Eugenie Mukeshimana will relate how she and her newborn daughter escaped the bloodshed when she visits on Monday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Boyle Center.  The lecture is free and open to the public.  She will explain how strangers risked their own lives to hide and protect her.

Her presentation is made possible through the Hughes Lecture Series. More information is available from Dr. Peter Staffel (304 336 8193) and Dr. Mohamed Youssef (304 336 8147).
