WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Sept. 26, 2019 — West Liberty University held its annual TAG Day (Thank A Giver) and showed its gratitude for generous donors by posting student and staff selfies throughout campus on Wednesday, Sept. 25.

President Stephen Greiner congratulates Chloe Pieniazek, the winner of a $500 scholarship on Thank A Giver Day.

The annual TAG Day promotion is sponsored by the WLU Foundation and coordinated by Becky Bugaj, advancement coordinator. Part of the promotion was a chance for a participating student to win a $500 scholarship.

Speech Pathology and Audiology major Chloe Pieniazek of Steubenville, Ohio won the scholarship and it will be applied to her tuition in the spring.

“I was thrilled to win this scholarship and surprised because I never put my name in contests since I don’t expect to win. I’ve never won before,” she said. “My mom was very happy when I called and told her.”

Pieniazek is the daughter of Brian and Bridget Pieniazek. Bridget is an alumna who earned her dental hygiene degree on the Hilltop.

Chloe expects to graduate in spring 2020 and go on to earn her master’s degree before she enters the professional field.

She plans on working in nursing homes and specializing in dysphagia (difficulty in swallowing). Currently she’s the president of WLU’s chapter of the National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association.

“Speech Pathology and Audiology is an awesome program that keeps on building. I’m very happy here and grateful for this scholarship,” she said.

Speech and Audiology is housed in the College of Sciences, which includes the departments of Health Sciences, Natural Science and Mathematics and the Physician Assistant master’s program. For more information, please visit westliberty.edu/college-of-sciences.
