WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., April 9, 2024 — WLU celebrated the new location of their Student Success Center with an open house on April 9 in the Paul N. Elbin Library.

Previously known as the Student Learning Development Center located in Main Hall, the Student Success Center has rebranded and opened its new location in the library.

The center is a facility on campus committed to motivating students to be successful, providing avenues for academic and cultural support, and developing opportunities for connecting students to the West Liberty University community to ensure a positive college experience.

The director of the Student Success Center is Andrew Lewis, a 2005 WLU graduate. “I’m honored to be here as an alumnus, and to give back to the institution that has given me so much,” he said.

“We want to help students discover their why. Why they’re here at WLU, why they need to go into this major, or what they can do. Our comprehensive team at the center will aid us in ensuring students have all the support they need to succeed,” Lewis added.

In addition to Lewis, there are four other staff members at WLU’s Student Success Center. Richard Whitehead, Interim ADA Coordinator; Peggy Howell, Student Success Coach; Aaron Kuhn, Student Success Coach; and Necol Dunson, Administrative Assistant.

The center currently offers academic coaching, accessibility services, career services, CLEP testing, first year programs & services, the Hilltoppers Academy, Miller Analogies Test (MAT), tutoring services and undeclared advising.
