WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., April 15, 2024- Gary E. West College of Business students curated a student-driven fashion show set to take place on April 17th from 7-8 P.M. in the College Union Ballroom. The Thrill of Thrift Fashion Show is inspired by the Topper Thrift consignment shop located on the first floor of Main Hall, and the event came to fruition by Junior Marketing Major, Tessa Ullom.
The Thrill of Thrift Fashion show invites faculty, students, staff, and the public to attend the sustainable event to show support for the student-driven thrift store. Topper Thrift was created to offer students an affordable and eco-friendly option for second-hand essentials, following the university’s pioneering spirit of sustainability.
The Thrill of Thrift Fashion Show aims to deliver an engaging, professional, and entertaining fashion show to WLU stakeholders by showcasing practical and creative outfits assembled from second-hand clothing. With Topper Thrift only starting back in 2022 as a clothes swap initiative in conjunction with Earth Day, it is promising to see such high levels of student engagement and excitement throughout campus.
Marketing Student & Thrill of Thrift Marketing Director, Nicolle Thompson says, “I’m so excited to see this year’s Topper Thrift Fashion Show come to light. I know our last event was a big success, and it will only get better with each new show. I am looking forward to seeing how people take discarded and unwanted clothes to make something truly beautiful. Overall, I am so grateful that we get the opportunity to plan this event every year with so much support from the community.”
The Fashion Show’s vision is to raise awareness for Topper Thrift and challenge the stigma surrounding secondhand shopping on campus. By providing a high-quality, interactive experience, we hope to foster continued interactions between Topper Thrift and WLU stakeholders.
“As the Event Coordinator of the second-ever ‘Thrill of Thrift’ fashion show, I am thrilled to bring this fun and unique event to WLU stakeholders. Our mission is to deliver an engaging, professional, and entertaining showcase of sustainable fashion, all while promoting the practical and creative use of second-hand clothing. Through categories like Workplace Wardrobe, Campus Couture, DIY, and more, we aim to inspire and educate our community about the beauty and versatility of thrifted finds”, says Tessa Ullom.
The Thrill of Thrift Fashion Show team invites you to join us on April 17, 2024, from 7:00 to 8:00 PM in the College Union Ballroom for an unforgettable evening celebrating eco-friendly fashion. From unique thrift finds to fierce performances by our models, this event promises to inspire and dazzle. The Thrill of Thrift Fashion Show team is proud to bring together a showcase of our student’s creativity and conscious style. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to have a great time while witnessing the magic of upcycled fashion.
