Small but Mighty, 1st Class of Master’s in Clinical Psychology receive Hoods

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., May 9, 2022 — West Liberty University’s first group of Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology (MACP) students graduated this past Saturday, May 7, 2022.

The students also enjoyed a May 6 hooding ceremony, coordinated by the Department of Psychology and held in College Hall, to mark the occasion.

Referring to the group as “small but mighty,” program director, Dr. Rebecca Meacham, is understandably proud.

“We are so proud of our inaugural cohort and their accomplishments,” said Meacham, who is an assistant professor of Psychology at WLU.

“Each of our students completed their undergraduate work here at West Liberty and remained to continue their education and finish with the new master’s degree. We wish them well in their futures, they have earned a degree that will make a difference in their careers and in the lives of others,” she said.

The new master degree graduates all have full time positions to begin their careers post-graduation. Graduates, their hometowns and their positions include:

Dean of the College of Sciences Dr. Karen Kettler personally congratulated the graduates at the hooding ceremony.

The WLU Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology degree program was developed in 2019 to increase the behavioral health workforce in West Virginia.

The MACP degree equips students to become licensed psychologists in the Mountain State.
