“We are pleased to name Ron as our Chief of Police and Director of Public Safety,” said WLU Vice President of Student Services Scott Cook. “We are confident in Ron’s ability to lead the police department and serve as the security leader for the campus.”

Fox has been acting as interim police chief since the departure of WLU’s former chief who moved to another state about six weeks ago. Fox officially starts as chief on Nov. 7.

As Director of Public Safety, Fox serves on the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) which has been active in pandemic response as campus deals with the COVID-19 emergency.

He has more than 26-years of experience in law enforcement, including serving as a chief of police at North Franklin Township in Pennsylvania for five years. He has been a member of WLU’s Campus Police Department since February of 2019.

Fox is a graduate of Waynesburg College with a bachelor’s in public service administration (criminal justice).

The Campus Police is dedicated to excellence in service to the campus community and provides 24-hour-a-day patrol to the grounds, parking lots, residence halls, academic buildings and the faculty housing area.

It currently employs six full-time professional police officers.

The police office is located in the ground floor of Shaw Hall and can be reached via email at police@westliberty.edu or by calling 304.336.8021.
