WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Nov. 7, 2022 — West Liberty University’s Presidential Search Committee 2022 convened at 6 p.m., Monday, Nov. 7, on Zoom and in person for its fourth official meeting.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Tom Cervone at 6:03 p.m. and, in addition to Cervone was attended by: Jack Adams, Michael Baker, Arlene Brantley, Sydney Burkle, Richard Carter, Katie Cooper, John Dolan, Ryan Glanville, Dan Joseph, Karen Kettler, Richard Lucas, David McKinley, Chris McPherson, Jason Metz and Stephanie Shaw. Absent were: Keith Bell and Jamie Evick.
Pursuant to WV Code § 6-9A-4, at 6:07 p.m., a motion to retire to executive session was made by Jack Adams and seconded by Richard Carter; motion passed unanimously.
A motion to rise from executive session at 6:38 p.m. was made by David McKinley and seconded by Richard Carter; by unanimous approval, the Board rose from executive session.
The action emanating from Executive Session was: On motion by Search Committee Vice Chairman David McKinley the search committee accepts the response proposal by AGB. Search Committee member John Dolan seconded and it was unanimously approved.
According to the AGB Search website, AGB offers executive search, interim search, and compensation evaluation services exclusively for higher education institutions. Founded by the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges (AGB) in 2010, it is headquartered in Washington, D.C.
WLU’s Search Committee meeting was then adjourned on motion by David McKinley and seconded by Stephanie Shaw, at 6:42 p.m.
West Liberty University is seeking its 38th President after the Board of Governors declined to renew current President W. Franklin Evans contract which expires on Dec. 31, 2022. (See Board of Governors Reject Contract Extension for President).

- 6 p.m., Monday, Dec. 5, 2022
