Presidential Search Committee Announced

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Dec. 11, 2019 — West Liberty University announced the names of its 2019 Presidential Search Committee today at its 4 p.m. Board of Governors meeting held in historic Shaw Hall.

The committee will lead the search for the 37th president who will take office after the retirement of President Stephen Greiner on June 30, 2020.

“These members have agreed to serve on the committee that has the role of selecting the best presidential candidates to present to campus for interviews as our search moves forward. We know they will do their best and thank them for agreeing to serve on this committee,” said Pat Ford, chairman of the Board of Governors.

Greiner announced in November that he would retire at the end of the current fiscal year on June 30, 2020. He has served as president since Jan. 1, 2016.

The search committee includes representatives from the faculty, alumni, staff, and student body, along with all members of the Board of Governors.

Created in accordance with the WLU Board of Governors Presidential Search and Selection policy, the committee makeup and process also follows the guidelines set by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission.

Lucas was elected as chair and Adams was selected as vice-chair of the search committee.

Ford also announced the date of the search committee’s first meeting, which immediately followed today’s Board of Governors regular meeting and also was held in Shaw Hall.

A national search is now taking place for WLU’s next leader and applications will be accepted through Jan. 31, 2020.
