WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — The graduates of the June 2026 Physician Assistant program at West Liberty University have achieved a 100% first-time pass rate on the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE). The exam assesses clinical knowledge, clinical reasoning and other medical skills and professional behaviors that have been deemed important for entry-level practice as a PA.
“The Class of 2026 has achieved something truly remarkable. Earning a 100% first-time pass rate on the PANCE reflects not only exceptional academic preparation, but also the determination, resilience, and professionalism of our students,” said Dr. Cathy Monteroso, Provost.
The first-time national PANCE pass rate is 91.5%. A 100% pass rate places the Class of 2026 in the ranks of the highest performing cohorts in the nation this year. The last time WLU students achieved a first-time 100% pass rate was 2023.
“I commend the faculty of our PA program and the students for accomplishing this feat,” said Dr. Joe Horzempa, Interim Dean of the College of Sciences. “This perfect PANCE pass rate demonstrates the prestige of our PA program and why this program produces the very best physician assistants in the region each and every year.”
West Liberty University’s Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program prepares students to be integral members of a collaborative healthcare team. Through its commitment to individualized education, the program develops compassionate and competent professionals who provide empathetic care to all patient populations within our community.
“The West Liberty Physician Assistant Program prepares PAs with the medical knowledge, professional skills, and clinical reasoning abilities to provide empathic, competent, evidence-based and patient-centered care at the highest level,” said Cynthia Spencer, PA Program Interim Director.
