PA Graduate Degree Commencement Ceremony is June 10

WEST LIBERTY, W. Va., June 6, 2022 – West Liberty University will hold its Physician Assistant (PA) Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2022, at 6 p.m., Friday, June 10 in Kelly Theater.

President W. Franklin Evans will greet the 18 graduates of the Class of 2022, followed by the Chairman of the Board of Governors Richard “Rich” Lucas. Dean of Graduate Studies Dr. Vincent Mumford also will share his greetings.

The keynote speaker will be attorney and WLU alumnus David Croft.

David Croft

Croft received a bachelor’s in accounting in 1989 from West Liberty University and a doctor of law degree in 1999 from the West Virginia University College of Law. Croft also received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree from WLU. 

He has served as an adjunct lecturer of law at the WVU College of Law where he taught multiple tax and other course subjects. A frequent lecturer and seminar speaker, he is an expert on subjects that include tax, estate planning, trust law, tax-exempt entities, and choice of business entity.

A member of the law firm of Spilman Thomas & Battle, PLLC, his legal practice focuses on complex business transactions and tax planning. Prior to entering law school, he practiced as a CPA in Morgantown.

He is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, the Ohio County Bar Association, the West Virginia State Bar Association and the American Bar Association and is listed in West Virginia Super Lawyers for Estate Planning, Probate, Corporate/Business and Tax law.

Croft currently serves on the boards of the Greater Wheeling Sports and Entertainment Authority, the Ohio County Schools Board of Education and tax seminar boards. He is a member of the West Liberty University Foundation and was inducted into the WLU Alumni Wall of Honor in 2018.

Graduates also receive Pi Alpha Honors during the ceremony (national honor society for physician assistants). This award is based on academic achievement, community service and leadership and the surprise announcement and presentation of awards will be made by Dr. Bill Childers, PA program director.

The ceremony also will be streamed live on WLU’s streaming platform Topper Station.

The PA program offers students a 24-month, year round program of study housed at the Campbell Hall of Health Sciences.
