WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., June 1, 2022 — West Liberty University’s Nursing Baccalaureate Degree Program received the highest level of accreditation recently from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
“This is wonderful news, and I am pleased to congratulate our chair of the Department of Nursing, Dr. Rose Kutlenios, and our entire nursing team for making this happen. Our program continues to be impactful, and West Liberty University appreciates the dedication and commitment that our nursing faculty and staff demonstrate on a daily basis,” said Dr. W. Franklin Evans, WLU president.
The accreditation is effective retroactively as of November 10, 2021 (first day of the program’s recent CCNE evaluation) and goes forward for 10 years until June 2032.
The program was considered by the CCNE Board of Commissioners using the CCNE Standards for Accreditation of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Programs (2018). Additionally, the board determined that the program met all four accreditation standards and determined that there are no compliance concerns with respect to the key elements.
“This is the result of excellent teamwork and I am proud of our nursing faculty and staff that made this recognition possible,” said Dr. Kutlenios. “Our national accreditation assures students of the strength of our program and our commitment to excellence.”
WLU’s Nursing Program consistently ranks as one of the best in the region and was recently the recipient of a major grant from West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice’s Nursing Workforce Expansion Program.
Because of this grant, new awards to assist students with tuition and fees are available for incoming students in both the traditional nursing baccalaureate program and the BA-BS to BSN or second-degree program.
Located in the Campbell Hall of Health Sciences, the program includes highly qualified faculty, a comprehensive curriculum and clinical learning experiences in dynamic health care agencies.
