Nursing Program Deemed One of America’s Best

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Oct. 6, 2015 — West Liberty University was notified recently of its status as one of America’s Best Nursing Schools in the Eastern Region as defined by nursejournal.org.

“This is very gratifying and we are proud of our nursing faculty and staff that made this recognition possible,” said Director of Nursing Dr. Rose Kutlenios.

“Our national accreditation also was extended till June 2022 recently and this is another excellent indicator of the strength of our program.”

WLU’s program is ranked 124 out of 1,189 schools in the new ranking. Among West Virginia schools, only three other schools scored higher.

The nurse journal rankings are a first time ranking, released on Aug. 31, 2015.
 To determine the rankings, it evaluated 1,189 schools and selected 20 metrics, sorting them into five categories: quality, affordability, convenience, satisfaction and value.

A social community website exclusively for nurses and healthcare professionals, nurse journal’s mission is to provide comprehensive educational resources for those interested in entry level or advanced practice nursing careers. Tools span topics such as jobs and careers, educational program options and financial aid as well as state and local government salary data for 200+ jobs and careers.

West Liberty University offers a Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited Bachelor of Science in nursing degree for high school graduates. The program incorporates various educational opportunities to prepare students to be professional nurses.

Located in the Campbell Hall of Health Sciences, WLU nursing program includes highly qualified faculty, a comprehensive curriculum and offers clinical learning experiences in dynamic health care agencies.

West Liberty University offers a CCNE accredited bachelors degree program for Registered Nurses who have an Associate degree or diploma and are currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse. Courses are provided at the main campus, the Highlands Center, or online.
